Depending on the type and configuration of the boat, that might be an excellent change. However, on my boat the tank is far forward on a beamy boat. Even in a knockdown, this area of the boe is still out of the water. It would, however, prevent any discharge of sewage from the tank and so would be a worthwhile change...

Is there a reason you don't criss-cross the vents to avoid spilling from your tank or shipping water when heeled over?
